Instructions for HPV Sample Self-Collection Kit

  • Step 1: Cleanse your external genital organs, dry with a soft towel or gauze before collecting sample. Wash and dry your hands.
  • Step 2: Remove the brush from the packaging. Do not discard the packaging, as it is needed to send the sample to the lab after use.
  • Step 3: Press the side of the cap using your thumb and index finger to remove the cap from the brush. Avoid touching the white fiber inside the cap.
  • Step 4: Assume a comfortable stance with one leg raised higher than the other (for example: As if you were about to insert a tampon).
  • Step 5: One hand spreads your labia. With the other hand, insert the brush into your vagina until the wings touch your labia.
  • Step 6: Hold the transparent casing with one hand. The other hand pushes the plunger in the direction of the transparent casing. You will hear a “click” when the brush is in the right position.
  • Step 7: Turn the plunger 05 rotations in the same direction. You will hear a “click” after each direction. After 05 rotations, carefully remove the brush.
  • Step 8: Hold the transparent casing with one hand. The other hand pulls on the plunger until the white brush disappears into the casing. When doing so, do not touch the top part of the brush.
  • Step 9: Place the cap back on the brush using your thumb and index finger. You will hear a “click” when it is properly in place.
  • Step 10: Put the brush back in the packaging.
