Semen Analysis

Patient Instructions:
. Refrain from sexual activity for 2–7 days prior to the test.
. Avoid using lubricants or spermicides during sample collection.
. Avoid alcohol and smoking for at least 2–3 days before the test.
. Collect the entire ejaculate via masturbation directly into a sterile container provided by the lab. Avoid using condoms.
. If collected outside the lab, deliver the sample to the lab as soon as possible preferably within 30 minutes after collection, as the sample should be processed within 30–60 minutes of collection, keeping it at body temperature (close to the body under the clothes e.g., in the armpit) during transportation.
. Absolutely do not store in cold.
