The urine glucose test helps detect abnormal amounts of glucose (sugar) in the urine, which may indicate diabetes, kidney disease, or other metabolic disorders. Normally, glucose is reabsorbed by the kidneys and does not appear in urine. However, high blood glucose levels or kidney dysfunction can lead to glucose spilling into the urine (glucosuria). The test is commonly used to monitor diabetes, assess kidney function, or detect gestational diabetes during pregnancy.
