Follicle-stimulating Hormone (FSH) is a hormone produced by the pituitary gland in the brain. In women, it plays a key role in the development of eggs in the ovaries and triggers ovulation. FSH is responsible for stimulating the growth and maturation of ovarian follicles, which contain the eggs. Once the follicles reach maturity, FSH triggers ovulation, the release of the mature egg from the ovary. In men, FSH is essential for sperm production.
