1. Urinate (empty the bladder) for the first time and flush it down the toilet.
2. Note the exact timing.
3. Collect every drop of urine during the following 24 hours in an empty container, without containing the preservative.
4. If possible, the sample should be refrigerated during collection, or kept in a cool place.
5. If you need to have a bowel movement, any urine passed with the bowel movement should be collected. Try not to include feces in the urine collection.
6. Conclude by gathering the final urine passed after 24 hours and putting it into the container.
7. Maintain regular hydration during the collection period.
. Avoid contamination of the urine sample with any other substances (e.g., toilet paper, soap, etc.) during collection.
. Deliver the sample to the lab immediately after collection.
If delayed, store the sample in a cool place or refrigerate it (up to 2 hours) until submission.
. For women: If possible, avoid urine collection during menstruation to prevent contamination with blood.
. Your doctor may ask you to avoid certain medicines for several days before the test. Do not stop any medication without consulting your doctor first.
. Avoid intense exercise for at least 24 hours before the test.
