Cervical Cancer Screening Test

- Specimen collection should be performed during the post-menstrual phase of the cycle to minimize blood contamination. Cervical cytology samples should not be obtained during menstruation.
- Instruct the patient to avoid vaginal douching, intravaginal medications, and sexual intercourse for at least 48 hours prior to sample collection.
- Position the patient in the lithotomy position. Insert a speculum without lubricant (saline or warm water may be used if necessary). Fully visualize the cervix to ensure optimal sampling.

Caution:
Negative result does not entirely rule out malignancy due to potential sampling error. Results must be correlated with clinical findings and colposcopy if indicated. This is a screening test, not a definitive diagnosis.
