Bebegene 2 genetic conditions**

The early stages of life are the most crucial as they are the foundation of a child’s future health and development. While physical disabilities such as visual impairments can be identified before the child turns three, developmental disorders such as autism are not well visible, so they are more likely to be diagnosed after the age of three, and by then, it may be too late. Screens your baby with more than 241 conditions caused by chromosomal abnormalities and disease-causing gene variants, providing you an expanded insight of your baby’s health condition by using a small amount of blood drawn from your baby for testing. Who should take this test: Children from 0 to 3 years old

Patient Instructions:
**Heel blood sampling procedure:**
- Perform disinfection and choose a position on the inside or outside of the heel as the puncture site
- Warm the heel, disinfect the site and puncture quickly and firmly with a sterile lancet needle
- Wipe off the first drop of blood with sterile gauze because the first drop of blood may be diluted by interstitial fluid
- Take the second drop of blood and apply it to the middle of the circle on the filter paper. The blood will seep through the back of the filter paper.
- Repeat the same operation to blot the blood spots on another circle.
- After taking the sample, lift the child's feet. Using sterile gauze, gently press on the needle insertion site until the bleeding stops.
- Blood stains must be completely dried in air (for 3-4 hours) at room temperature.
- The sampling card must be completely dry before placing it in an envelope box for transport to the laboratory.
- Dispose of all used items in appropriate biohazard containers.

**Acceptable pattern:** Filled and dissolved circle
**Sample not accepted:** Sample not filled enough | Many small, loose spots | Delaminations

**Note: **Samples are taken from newborns at least 24 hours old. This allows for early metabolic changes and the introduction of milk and protein to the baby. Samples collected too early may give false or negative results.
