Ancylostoma (hookworms) are parasitic worms that cause intestinal infections. Transmission occurs through the ingestion of infectious hookworm eggs or through skin penetration. People of all ages can become infected. Hookworm infection typically occurs when larvae penetrate the skin of individuals walking barefoot on contaminated soil. Ancylostoma is distributed worldwide and is endemic in countries with tropical or subtropical climates, particularly where sanitation is poor, human feces are used as fertilizer, or water sources are contaminated.

For the qualitative screening of anti-Ancylostoma IgG antibodies in human serum or plasma samples using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method. This test is to be performed only by trained medical technicians.
