Addis sediment is a semi-urine test used to measure and calculate indicators such as red blood cells, platelets, white blood cells, and urinary casts. This test is important in diagnosing and following up kidney diseases, especially nephrotic syndrome.

Patient Instructions:

. You don't need any special preparation.
. Instructions on sample collection:
1. Urinate (empty the bladder) for the first time and flush it down the toilet.
2. Immediately drink 300 mL of filtered water. Note the exact timing.
2. Collect every drop of urine during the following 3 hours in an empty collection bottle.
3. If possible, the sample should be refrigerated during collection, or kept in a cool place.
4. If you need to have a bowel movement, any urine passed with the bowel movement should be collected. Try not to include feces in the urine collection.
5. Conclude by gathering the final urine passed after 3 hours and depositing it into the collection bottle.
