Early-stage gastric cancer often causes few or no noticeable symptoms. However, there are still some warning signs you should pay attention to:
- Persistent abdominal pain or dyspepsia, particularly after meals.
- Frequent belching, heartburn, persistent discomfort in the upper abdomen.
- Loss of appetite, poor appetite, early satiety.
- Intermittent nausea or vomiting.
- Unexplained weight loss.
If you have warning signs such as persistent abdominal pain, unexplained weight loss, or loss of appetite, your physician may recommend upper gastrointestinal endoscopy even if your blood test results are normal.
You may be recommended to perform a gastric biopsy if upper gastrointestinal endoscopy identifies any suspicious areas of the gastric mucosa.
