The DIAG’s Allergy Panels measure the concentration of specific IgE antibodies to allergens in the blood to determine whether your body is having an abnormal immune response to various allergens.

The test results will indicate which allergens your body should avoid, providing guidance on appropriate dietary and preventive measures.

When an allergy occurs, the body produces IgE antibodies against harmless substances (such as food, dust, pet dander, plants, wood, spices), leading to symptoms like rashes, itching, difficulty breathing, vomiting, diarrhea, etc. Although many allergic reactions do not cause serious health damage, some allergens may have unpredictable long-term effects.

While the symptoms of allergies may resemble food intolerance, these are two entirely different conditions. Food intolerance occurs when the digestive system fails to properly process one or more specific foods. In contrast, an allergy occurs when the body mistakenly identifies certain proteins in food (or other environmental allergens) as harmful, leading to the production of specific IgE antibodies. Upon re-exposure to these allergens, IgE antibodies trigger the release of chemical mediators, causing allergic symptoms.

No. The allergy panels at DIAG only detect allergens from food, mold, dust mites, wood, flowers and animals.

Not necessary. However, some cases may require periodic testing if patients are part of a treatment and as directed by a doctor.

4. What preparations are needed before allergy testing for children?

No special preparations are required. Parents should note any characteristics of the child’s allergic reactions, dietary history that caused allergies, and any allergy medications the child has taken (if applicable).

5. What are the most common allergens in Vietnam?

Both adults and children in Vietnam can be allergic to common allergens such as food (eggs, milk, peanuts, soy, fish, shrimp, crab, almonds, cashews, wheat), animals (dogs, cats), and certain molds (Candida albicans, Penicillium notatum).

If DIAG’s lab receives the sample before 1:00 PM (Mon – Sat), test results will be available at 6:00 PM on the same day.
If DIAG’s lab receives the sample after 1:00 PM (Mon – Sat), test results will be available the next day.

Allergy 72 Panel:

If DIAG’s lab receives the sample before 10:00 AM (Mon – Sat), test results will be available at 3:00 PM on the same day.
If DIAG’s lab receives the sample after 10:00 AM (Mon – Sat), test results will be available the next day.

8. Do I need to fast before an Allergy Panels test?

No fasting is required. You can eat and drink normally before the test.
